Hello my name is Megan, I am a 12 year old with Type I Diabetes. I have had this disease since I was 2 years old. You probably look at me and think it must be so hard to deal with it, but it’s truly not. People seem to think you can’t do what they can such as learn to play various instruments, I have. Or dance a beautiful contemporary solo, I have. Or get first place and stand on that podium, I have.
I wouldn’t have been able to if I didn’t go to the Diabetes Camp – that one week of summer where you fit in, and everyone understands what you go through every day of your life. That one week gave me confidence to stand up and exceed my dreams. At camp they always tell us “Know who you are and strive to be that person.” I am Megan, and this is my story.
